The Rusty-browed Flowerpiercer is a small, distinctive bird with a rusty or rufous patch above its eye and grayish-brown plumage overall. It has the characteristic hooked bill.
Where to spot
Widespread across high-altitude dry and semi-humid montane forests and scrub of the Andes, from Venezuela south to Argentina, and also parts of Central America (Nicaragua to Panama).
How to spot
Look for it actively foraging on flowers and foliage in arid or semi-arid montane habitats. The rusty brow is the most distinctive feature.
