Where to spot
Endemic to the Solomon Islands, inhabiting lowland and montane rainforests, primarily on Bougainville and Choiseul islands.
How to spot
Due to its rarity and secretive nature, observing this owl is exceptionally challenging. Listen for its unique vocalizations, which are poorly known, and conduct patient night-time searches with a spotlight.
When to spot
Strictly nocturnal. Best observed by listening for its calls during the night.
