The Javan Cuckooshrike is a species endemic to the island of Java, Indonesia. It is a grey cuckooshrike with a black lore and often a slightly darker head.
Where to spot
Endemic to Java and Bali in Indonesia, found in lowland and hill forests, forest edges, and wooded areas.
How to spot
Scan the mid-levels of trees. Look for its grey plumage and subtle dark mask. Local knowledge may be helpful to distinguish it from similar species.
When to spot
Active during daylight hours, often seen foraging in the mid-canopy. It is a resident species, observable year-round.
