Where to spot

How to spot
Look on the forest floor or low perches in dense, moist forests. Its rufous head and spotted flanks are good identifiers. Listen for its clear, melodious song.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most vocal during the breeding season (spring/summer). Active early morning and late afternoon.
This thrush is named after John Henry Gurney, an English ornithologist. It is known for its beautiful and varied song.
