The Orange-fronted Parakeet is a small to medium-sized green parakeet characterized by a bright orange patch on its forehead and a yellow bill. It is common in Central America.
Where to spot
Dry forests, woodlands, agricultural lands, and gardens, ranging from western Mexico south to Costa Rica.
How to spot
Listen for their loud, screeching calls as they fly in small to large flocks. Look for them feeding in fruiting trees or perched conspicuously on bare branches.
When to spot
Year-round. They are particularly active and vocal in the early morning and late afternoon when foraging and moving between roosts.
