Search dense native forest fragments. Its elusive nature requires patience. Listen for its characteristic calls, as visual detection can be difficult.
When to spot
Year-round, but extremely rare. Requires dedicated search efforts in its remote and fragmented habitat.
Its population has been severely impacted by habitat loss due to agriculture and introduced goats, as well as predation by introduced rats and cats.
