Where to spot
Widespread throughout Madagascar and the Comoro Islands. Inhabits various forest types, woodlands, savannas with trees, and gardens.
How to spot
Scan the mid-story and canopy of wooded areas. Look for the male's long tail and distinctive plumage (note the color morph). Observe its aerial hunting for insects. Listen for its chattering or whistling calls.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Active throughout the day, often more vocal and visible during the breeding season.
