Spotted
The Mysore White-eye is a species endemic to Biak Island, New Guinea, and nearby Supiori Island. It is a small, yellowish-green bird with a prominent white eye-ring, inhabiting forest edges and plantations.
Where to spot
Found only on Biak and Supiori Islands, Indonesia, primarily in forest edges, clearings, and plantations.
How to spot
Look for small, bright, active birds with a white eye-ring, often moving in small groups through the foliage. Their calls are typical white-eye chirps and trills.
When to spot
Active year-round, especially during early mornings and late afternoons when foraging.
This species' common name can be confusing as it is not found in Mysore, India; rather, it's a historical naming convention for birds from the 'Mysore Islands' (Biak and Supiori).
