The Black-throated Fulvetta is a small, active bird found in the hills of northern Southeast Asia. It is known for its dark throat and highly social behavior.
Where to spot
Found in the hills of northern Myanmar, northern Thailand, Laos, and southwestern China. Inhabits montane broadleaf evergreen forests and dense undergrowth.
How to spot
Look for its prominent black throat, contrasting with a pale breast and brownish upperparts. Often seen in noisy, active flocks, moving rapidly through vegetation. Listen for their varied, often chattering and buzzing calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Most active during the day. Easily observed throughout the year, with increased vocal activity in the breeding season (spring-summer).
These birds are highly social and often form large, active foraging flocks, sometimes numbering dozens of individuals, moving through the forest mid-story.
