The Green-and-gold Tanager is a beautiful species with iridescent green and golden-yellow plumage. It is a striking inhabitant of humid montane forests.
Where to spot
Found in humid montane forests and cloud forests, typically at mid-elevations in western Colombia and Ecuador.
How to spot
Look for it in the mid-story and canopy, often in mixed-species flocks. Its iridescent green and gold make it a jewel of the forest.
When to spot
Active year-round. Best observed in the morning hours when it is most active and vocal.
