The Festive Amazon is a large, predominantly green parrot with a distinctive red patch on its forehead and a blue crown. It is found across the Amazon basin, typically near rivers.
Where to spot
Humid lowland rainforests, particularly along major rivers and their tributaries, throughout the Amazon basin in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil.
How to spot
Look for its large size, green plumage, and the red forehead. Listen for its loud, raucous calls, which are often the first sign of their presence.
When to spot
Most active during early morning and late afternoon when flying to and from feeding or roosting sites. It is a resident.
