Historically endemic to the montane forests of Lanai, Hawaii.

Observation is no longer possible. Historical records describe it as a yellowish-green honeycreeper with a noticeably long, curved bill, often observed feeding on nectar and insects in its forest habitat.

Last observed in 1892 and is considered extinct. It is no longer observable.
