Where to spot
Found in Southeast Asia, including the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo. It inhabits lowland and hill rainforests, typically in the mid-canopy and sub-canopy layers.
How to spot
Search the mid-levels of dense tropical forests. Look for its glossy black plumage and distinctive bright blue or white eye-ring. Its long, graduated tail is also characteristic. Listen for its varied vocalizations, which include harsh calls and whistles, often given in pairs or small groups.
