Found in the Solomon Islands, Bismarck Archipelago, and parts of New Guinea. Inhabits lowland and montane forests, forest edges, and disturbed areas.

Look for it perching on exposed branches or flying across clearings. Listen for its distinctive, low-pitched cooing call, often repeated.

Active throughout the day, often seen during the cooler parts of the morning and late afternoon. Can be found year-round within its range.
