The Lesser Green Leafbird is a small, predominantly green bird with a slender, decurved bill. It is highly active, flitting through the forest canopy as it feeds on nectar, fruits, and insects.
Where to spot
Found across Southeast Asia, from southern Myanmar and Thailand through the Malay Peninsula to Sumatra and Borneo. Inhabits lowland and montane forests, forest edges, and cultivated areas.
How to spot
Look for its overall green plumage and relatively small size. Males have a black throat patch with a blue border. Listen for its sweet, melodious, often imitative songs from the forest canopy.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed during the cooler parts of the day, such as early mornings and late afternoons, when foraging activity is at its peak.
