Wallace's White-eye is a species found on several islands in Wallacea, Indonesia. It is a typical white-eye with green plumage and a prominent eye-ring.
Where to spot
Found on several islands in Wallacea, including Flores, Sumbawa, and Lombok. Inhabits various habitats including forests, forest edges, gardens, and cultivated areas.
How to spot
Look for its bright white eye-ring, yellowish throat, and olive-green upperparts. Often found in active flocks, foraging for insects and nectar. Listen for its clear, twittering calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Active during the day. Easily observed throughout the year.
This species is named after Alfred Russel Wallace, the renowned naturalist who co-developed the theory of evolution by natural selection and conducted extensive research in Wallacea.
