Where to spot
Humid lowland rainforests, typically near rocky outcrops, caves, and streams, in the Guianan Shield (Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana) and adjacent parts of Brazil and Venezuela.
How to spot
Locate active leks, often on the forest floor among boulders or in open areas. Listen for their loud, squawking calls. Males will be displaying, while females are duller and more reclusive.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed at active leks during the breeding season, usually in the early morning.
