The Seven-colored Tanager is a breathtakingly vibrant species, a true explosion of color with shades of green, blue, yellow, and black. It is one of the most sought-after birds in the Atlantic Forest.
Where to spot
Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil, Paraguay, and northeastern Argentina.
How to spot
Seek out fruiting trees at forest edges or clearings, where these birds often feed. Their incredibly vivid colors make them relatively easy to spot once located.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Most active at dawn and dusk, when it forages for fruit and insects.
