The Green-cheeked Amazon is a large, predominantly green parrot found in northeastern Mexico, characterized by its bright red forecrown and green cheeks. It's often found in semi-arid and humid forests.
Where to spot
Northeastern Mexico, inhabiting deciduous and evergreen forests, woodlands, and even some suburban areas. Introduced populations exist elsewhere.
How to spot
Look for its overall green body with a red forehead and a blue patch behind the crown. Listen for its loud, squawking, and often varied calls.
When to spot
Active throughout the day, particularly noisy in the morning and late afternoon. It is a resident species.
