Spotted
The Golden Conure is a stunning, almost entirely golden-yellow parrot with bright green primary flight feathers. It is endemic to the Amazon basin of Brazil.
Where to spot
Lowland humid forests, especially primary and mature secondary forests, in a small region of north-central Brazil.
How to spot
Look for them in small flocks in the forest canopy. Their bright yellow plumage can make them surprisingly hard to spot in dappled sunlight despite their vibrant color. Listen for their loud, often screeching calls.
When to spot
Year-round. Most active in the early morning and late afternoon.
