A small, shy robin known for the male's brilliant fiery-orange throat patch. It inhabits dense undergrowth in montane forests.
Where to spot
Breeds in dense undergrowth of montane forests in the Himalayas and southwest China; winters at lower elevations in Southeast Asia.
How to spot
Listen for its sweet, melodious song. It is very secretive and prefers dense cover, often foraging on the forest floor.
When to spot
Best seen during migration (spring and autumn) or on breeding grounds in summer.
