A stunning migratory robin, with males showcasing a prominent ruby-red throat. It breeds in high-altitude scrub and winters in Southeast Asia.
Where to spot
Breeds in high-altitude scrub and dwarf rhododendron in central China and Tibet; winters in Southeast Asia.
How to spot
Listen for its bright, varied song, which is often the first clue to its presence. It tends to be shy, staying in dense low cover.
When to spot
Best observed during the breeding season (summer) or during spring/autumn migration in its transit zones.
