Spotted
The Lendu Flycatcher (*Fraseria lendu*) is a highly localized and rare African flycatcher. It is a small, rather drab bird, typically greyish-brown with paler underparts, inhabiting montane forests.
Where to spot
Endemic to the montane forests of the Lendu Plateau in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. It prefers dense, humid forest and bamboo thickets.
How to spot
Patience and quiet observation in its dense forest habitat are crucial. Look for its small size and drab plumage. Listening for its soft, high-pitched calls, if known, can help pinpoint its location.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Due to its elusive nature and restricted range, observation is extremely challenging. It is typically most active in the early morning and late afternoon.
Named after the Lendu Plateau in the Democratic Republic of Congo, this species is known from only a few specific sites, highlighting its critically restricted range.
