Spotted
The Blackburnian Warbler is arguably one of the most stunning warblers, with males boasting a brilliant fiery orange throat and face patch, contrasting with black and white streaks on its back and flanks.
Where to spot
Breeds in coniferous and mixed forests across southeastern Canada and the eastern United States (Appalachian Mountains, Great Lakes). Winters in Central America and northern South America.
How to spot
Look high in the canopy of coniferous or mixed forests. Its bright orange can be a giveaway. Listen for its extremely high-pitched, thin, and often ascending "tsee-tsee-tsee-tseet-tsee-tsee-tsee, ti-ti-ti-WEET-CHEW" song.
When to spot
Best observed during spring (May) and fall (September-October) migration, when it can be found in various wooded habitats. Present on breeding grounds in summer.

Its incredibly vivid orange plumage is brightest during the breeding season, making it a spectacular sight for birdwatchers, though it often forages high in the canopy, requiring patience and good optics.
