The Nepal Parrotbill is a species found in the eastern Himalayas and parts of Southeast Asia. It is often found in dense bamboo thickets within montane forests.
Where to spot
Ranges from Nepal east through Bhutan, northeast India, northern Myanmar, northern Thailand, Laos, and southern China. Inhabits dense broadleaf evergreen forests, especially with bamboo, at mid-elevations.
How to spot
Look for its plain brown and greyish plumage, often with a darker cap and pale eye-ring, and its stout, pale bill. Often found in small, noisy flocks, moving through dense bamboo. Listen for its high-pitched, chattering calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Active during the day. More vocal during the breeding season (spring-summer).
