Where to spot
Found in lowland and foothill evergreen forests, semi-deciduous forests, and mature secondary growth, from southeastern Mexico through Central America to northern Colombia.
How to spot
Listen for its characteristic, often rapid, hooting calls. Look for it perched upright in the mid-story or understory of dense forests. The male's black head and green body are unmistakable.

Diurnal, active throughout the day, often sitting quietly for long periods.
