The Black-faced Laughingthrush is a distinctive babbler found in the high-altitude forests of the eastern Himalayas and parts of China. It is easily recognized by its prominent black facial mask contrasting with a grey head and rufous body.

Ranges from the eastern Himalayas (northeastern India, Bhutan) through parts of northern Myanmar and southern China. Inhabits dense undergrowth of montane evergreen and rhododendron forests, typically at high elevations.
