Where to spot
Found in South America, ranging from southeastern Brazil south through Uruguay and Argentina. Inhabits open grasslands, savannas, swamps, and marshy areas, often near water.

Look for its overall pale grey plumage, white belly, and relatively long tail. It often perches conspicuously on low bushes or fences. Listen for its distinct, often rapid, 'kowp-kowp-kowp' calls.
When to spot
Observable year-round in its range, though some populations may show local movements. Most active during daylight hours.
