Prawiradilaga's Myzomela is a recently described species of honeyeater endemic to the island of Alor in Indonesia. It is a small, relatively plain bird of the local forests.
Where to spot
Endemic to the island of Alor in the Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia. It inhabits a variety of forest types, including moist deciduous forests and montane evergreen forests.
How to spot
A small, rather drab myzomela, primarily olive-brown with a pale belly, similar to other plain myzomelas. Its identification relies heavily on its specific geographic range. Look for its active foraging among flowering trees and listen for its thin calls.
When to spot
Active during daylight hours, feeding on nectar and insects. As a resident species within its limited island range, it can be observed year-round.
This species was named in honor of Didik Suharso Prawiradilaga, a prominent Indonesian ornithologist, recognizing his contributions to the study of Indonesian birds.
