Where to spot
Found in West Africa, including countries like Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Nigeria. Inhabits lowland rainforests and mature secondary forests.
How to spot
Look for its bright yellow throat and barred underparts. Males have a red nape. Listen for its characteristic high-pitched, often repetitive, calls and soft tapping sounds as it forages.
