Where to spot
Found in rainforests, wet eucalypt forests, and dense wet gullies along the east coast of Australia, from northeastern Queensland to central Victoria.
How to spot
Listen for its loud, rich, and often mimetic song emanating from dense undergrowth. Be patient and scan low vegetation or near fallen logs. Look for the bright yellow throat and dark eye-stripe.
When to spot
Observable year-round. Most active at dawn and dusk.
The Yellow-throated Scrubwren is an impressive mimic, able to accurately imitate the calls of many other bird species in its complex song.
