The White-tailed Swallow is a rare and localized swallow endemic to a small region of southern Ethiopia. It is characterized by its glossy blue-black plumage and diagnostic white outer tail feathers.
Where to spot
Open acacia savannas with scattered trees, often near small rocky outcrops or wadis, in a very localized area of the Mega region in southern Ethiopia.
How to spot
Look for its glossy blue-black plumage and, crucially, the bright white outer tail feathers visible in flight, especially when turning. Its restricted range means specific travel is required.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Active during daylight hours.
