Spotted
Brazza's Martin is a poorly known and localized swallow found in parts of Central Africa. It is a small, pale martin with a distinctive streaked breast.
Where to spot
Riverine forests and gallery forests along specific river systems in the Democratic Republic of Congo and parts of Angola and Republic of the Congo.
How to spot
Look for its pale, streaked underparts and small size. It typically flies low over water or perches on branches along riverbanks. Requires careful observation and good local knowledge to find.
When to spot
Year-round resident, but observations are rare. Best chance of sighting is often near its specific riverine habitats.
This species is considered one of the least studied swallows due to its restricted range and relatively secretive nature, with its breeding biology still largely unknown to science.
