Spotted
The White-browed Babbler is a highly social bird found in the drier woodlands and scrublands of southern Australia. It is distinguished by its prominent white eyebrow.
Where to spot
Primarily found in arid and semi-arid woodlands, mallee, and scrubland across southern and central Australia.
How to spot
Look for noisy groups moving through the undergrowth or on the ground. Identify by their clear white supercilium, brown plumage, and distinctive 'chatter' or 'whistle' calls. They often build large, untidy stick nests.
When to spot
Active throughout the day, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. They are more vocal during breeding season.
Like other babblers, the White-browed Babbler engages in cooperative breeding, with extended family groups working together to build nests and raise young.
