Where to spot
Endemic to southwestern Australia, found in dry sclerophyll forests, woodlands, and mallee habitats.
How to spot
Look for its yellow breast in the understory and mid-story of dry woodlands. It frequently perches on horizontal branches or tree trunks. Listen for its distinctive 'chip-chop' calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Active throughout the day, particularly responsive to calls in the early morning.
Western Yellow Robins often construct cup-shaped nests using bark strips, reinforced with spider silk, and decorate the outside with lichen and bark fragments for camouflage.
