Spotted
The Golden-bellied Flyrobin is a small, attractive robin found in the New Guinea region, notable for its bright yellow or golden underparts. It is a subtle but beautiful inhabitant of forest interiors.
Where to spot
Found on New Guinea and some adjacent islands, inhabiting lowland and hill rainforests, often in the mid-story and understory.
How to spot
Search dense forest habitats, particularly areas with good undergrowth. Its bright underparts can be a flash of color, but its small size and quiet movements require patience.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Best observed during the early morning and late afternoon when light conditions are optimal for spotting its colors.
While generally insectivorous, this flyrobin has also been observed feeding on small fruits, demonstrating a more varied diet than some of its relatives.
