The Common Sunbird-Asity is a vibrantly colored, sexually dimorphic passerine bird endemic to Madagascar. Males are striking with iridescent green, black, and yellow, and bright green facial wattles.
Where to spot
Humid lowland rainforests and mature secondary forests in eastern Madagascar.
How to spot
Look for it feeding on fruits in the sub-canopy. The male's striking plumage is unmistakable. Listen for its distinctive, fluty calls. Patience is required as it can be secretive.
When to spot
Year-round, but males are most vibrantly colored during the breeding season (Austral spring/summer). Most active during the day.
