Spotted
The Tibetan Siskin is a high-altitude finch found exclusively in the Himalayas and Tibetan Plateau. It is adapted to cold, harsh environments.
Where to spot
High elevations of the Himalayas and the Tibetan Plateau, including parts of Nepal, Bhutan, India, and China. Inhabits alpine meadows, rocky slopes, and dwarf rhododendron scrub.
How to spot
Look for small flocks foraging on the ground or in low shrubs. Identification can be challenging due to its dull plumage; look for its small size and typical finch behavior in high-altitude environments.
When to spot
Best observed during the summer months when they are breeding in the high alpine zones. They may descend to lower altitudes during harsh winters.
This species is one of the highest-dwelling finches, often found above the tree line in rocky, alpine pastures.
