Where to spot
Humid lowland and foothill forests, forest edges, and mature secondary growth in Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
How to spot
Listen for its loud, resonant 'kutt-kutt-kutt' calls. Look for its vibrant blue and red facial markings, and the blue nape patch, in fruiting trees or perched high in the canopy.
When to spot
Year-round; most active and vocal during the morning hours.
