Found in various central African countries, including Uganda, Rwanda, and Democratic Republic of Congo, preferring humid montane and lowland forests, often near forest edges or clearings.
How to spot
Look for its glossy blue-green head and wings contrasting with a darker body. Scan fruiting trees and open areas within or near forests. Listen for its chattering calls.
When to spot
Active throughout the day, with peak foraging activity in the morning and late afternoon. It is a resident species.
This starling is known to roost communally in large numbers, especially outside the breeding season, often gathering in specific trees or reed beds at dusk.
