Steere's Liocichla is a striking and active babbler endemic to Taiwan. It is characterized by its olive-green plumage, bright yellow and red wing patches, and a prominent black facial mask.
Where to spot
Endemic to Taiwan. Inhabits montane evergreen forests, particularly in the undergrowth, bamboo thickets, and along forest edges, at moderate to high elevations.
How to spot
Listen for its clear, melodious, and often complex whistling calls. Look for its active movements through dense foliage. The bright yellow and red wing patches combined with the black facial mask are distinctive.

Resident year-round. Most active and vocal during the early morning and late afternoon, especially during the breeding season (spring/summer).
