McClelland's Babbler is a striking species with distinct streaking on its underparts and a prominent white supercilium. It is a vocal and active resident of dense montane forests.
Where to spot
Distributed across the eastern Himalayas and parts of Southeast Asia, including Nepal, Bhutan, Northeast India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and southern China. Inhabits dense montane evergreen and temperate forests.
How to spot
Listen for its loud, varied, and melodious song, often a series of clear whistles. Look for its prominent white eyebrow and streaked underparts as it forages in the mid-story or undergrowth, often in pairs.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Most vocal during the breeding season (spring/early summer). Best observed during the cooler parts of the day, particularly early mornings.
