The Rusty-throated Fulvetta is a charming and sprightly babbler recognized by its warm rusty throat and contrasting white eye-ring. It inhabits temperate and subtropical forests, often joining mixed foraging parties.
Where to spot
Distributed across the Himalayas and Southeast Asia, including Nepal, Bhutan, Northeast India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and southern China. Prefers temperate montane forests and bamboo thickets.
How to spot
Look for the warm rusty patch on its throat and chin, and its prominent white eye-ring. It moves quickly through the lower to middle canopy. Listen for its high-pitched, sibilant 'si-si-si' calls, often given in chorus by a flock.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed during the cooler parts of the day, particularly early mornings, as it forages actively in flocks.
