Spotted
The Somali Thrush is a thrush species endemic to a very restricted range in Somalia and adjacent parts of Ethiopia. It has a distinctive grey head and breast, contrasting with a rufous belly.
Where to spot
Restricted to Juniper and mixed montane forests in northern Somalia and the adjacent highlands of eastern Ethiopia.
How to spot
Extremely difficult to observe due to its rarity and political instability in its range. Requires dedicated effort in its specific high-altitude forest habitat. Listen for its song.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed during the breeding season (spring) when more vocal. Early mornings are ideal.
