The Seychelles Fody is a small, bright yellow fody endemic to a few islands in the Seychelles archipelago. Males display a striking yellow body with a reddish-orange face.
Where to spot
Endemic to the Seychelles, now found on Cousin, Cousine, Aride, Frégate, and Denis Islands, typically in forest, scrub, and coconut plantations.
How to spot
Visit the islands where it occurs, especially those protected nature reserves. They are often quite tame on these islands, allowing for close observation as they forage in trees and bushes.
When to spot
Observable year-round. Males are most colourful during the breeding season, which aligns with the local wet season.
Successfully reintroduced to several islands from which it had disappeared, showcasing a positive conservation story.
