Spotted
A partridge species or subspecies found in Southeast Asia, closely related to the Chestnut-necklaced Partridge. It exhibits similar secretive habits and forest habitat preferences.
Where to spot
Found in evergreen forests of Thailand and Myanmar. Its range overlaps partially with other `Tropicoperdix` species or subspecies.
How to spot
Like its close relatives, it is very difficult to observe. Rely on its calls to locate it. Look for it moving slowly and deliberately through the dense undergrowth on the forest floor.
When to spot
Similar to other partridges, dawn and dusk are the most active periods for foraging and calling.
The taxonomic status of Gray's Partridge is often debated among ornithologists, highlighting the complexity of species identification in some groups.
