Requires extreme patience and specialized guidance in its very limited, protected habitat. Listen for its distinctive calls, as visual encounters are incredibly rare and require dedicated searching.
When to spot
Year-round resident, but exceptionally difficult to find. Best sought in early morning.
Named after the German ornithologist Helmut Sick, this antwren is among the rarest birds in the world, facing imminent extinction due to habitat loss in its minuscule range, making conservation efforts paramount.
