Where to spot
Endemic to the coastal mountain ranges of northern Venezuela, including the Cordillera de la Costa, where it inhabits humid montane forests and cloud forests.

Search for it feeding at flowering plants in humid montane and cloud forests. Its prominent rufous breast and belly are excellent field marks. Males often perch conspicuously while defending their feeding territories.
