Endemic to humid montane forests of central and southern Peru.
How to spot
Scan mossy branches and tree trunks in humid montane forests. Look for its active probing behavior and listen for its loud, distinctive calls, which can be quite far-carrying.

Active year-round. Most observable during early mornings.
