Where to spot
Found along the North Pacific coast, breeding from Alaska to California and wintering in similar coastal waters, also found in East Asia.

Look for its dark grey plumage, pale bill, and unique 'horn' during the breeding season. Often seen diving for fish or flying low over the water, especially at dusk near colonies.
